Food Handler Review & Training Session
The Whitby Specialty Food Bank is pleased to host aFood Handler Review & Training Session designed to equip members of our community with practical food safety knowledge and safe food handling practices.
Food safety plays an important role in protecting the health of our neighbors, strengthening community programs, and creating pathways toward employment in the food service and hospitality industries. This session has been created to provide accessible, practical instruction for anyone interested in learning or reviewing the fundamentals of safe food handling.
Throughout the day, participants will take part in a guided review covering essential food safety principles, including proper food preparation practices, safe storage, sanitation standards, and real-world applications used in community kitchens, volunteer programs, and workplace environments. The session is designed to be welcoming, informative, and supportive for individuals at all experience levels.
Whether someone is exploring opportunities in food service, preparing to volunteer in community programs, or simply interested in learning more about safe food practices, this training provides a valuable opportunity to build knowledge and confidence.
Please note that this session is a Food Handler Review and Educational Training. While it will provide strong foundational knowledge and preparation, official Food Handler Certification will not be issued during this session. Participants will, however, gain the practical understanding needed to pursue formal certification when available successfully.
As part of the day,continental breakfast and lunch will be providedso participants can enjoy a welcoming environment while learning together.
