Every meal, every pound of food rescued, and every family supported tells a story of hope. Here’s the impact we’ve made together.
From January 2024 to January 2026, thanks to His grace and this community’s kindness, we shared…
-

Value of Food Redistributed
When food is rescued instead of wasted, generosity multiplies.
In just two years, more than $8.4 million worth of food has been redirected to families across our community. Behind every dollar of value is a meal shared, a burden lifted, and hope placed back on the table.
-

Pounds of Food Donated
Thanks to the hands and hearts of our community, more than 1.9 million pounds of food have been gathered, sorted, and shared through the Whitby Specialty Food Bank.
Volunteers, grocery partners, farmers, and donors all play a part. Together we are making sure our neighbors have the nourishment they need to keep moving forward.
-

Meals Provided
From that food, nearly 1.6 million meals have been shared with individuals and families throughout Durham Region.
Sometimes hope comes quietly, tucked inside a food hamper. A warm dinner after a long day. Breakfast before school. Because of this community, more tables have food and more neighbors feel supported.
These numbers represent more than statistics
they reflect the lives touched and the change we’re creating every day.

Fresh Produce
Fresh fruits and vegetables bring life back to the family table. Over the past two years, more than 1.25 million pounds of fresh produce have been shared with neighbors across our community.
Because of generous farmers, grocers, and volunteers, families have access to healthy food that nourishes both body and spirit. Every apple, carrot, and basket of vegetables is a small reminder that our community cares deeply for one another.
-

Non-Food Items Distributed
Sometimes the most helpful gift is not food at all. It might be diapers for a young family, hygiene supplies for someone starting over, or household essentials that help stretch a tight budget.
Through the kindness of donors and local partners, more than 330,000 non-food essentials have been shared. These simple items bring comfort, dignity, and stability during difficult seasons.
-

Greenhouse Gases Diverted
Rescuing food does more than feed families. It also protects the world we share.
By recovering surplus food and redirecting it to neighbors who need it most, we have kept over 6.8 million pounds of greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere. Every rescued box of food is care for both people and creation.
Through every meal we serve, we transform surplus into sustenance, generosity into hope, and challenges into opportunities for brighter futures.
-
Over 247,240 meals were provided this year, ensuring families received the nutrition they needed during challenging times.
